Isolating a specific audience while creating buzz around a product must be approached carefully. This challenge was taken head-on by creating an infographic that would educate employers while providing valuable information that’s transferable for other readers. This also ensured it would be highly shared and likely to be picked up by prominent outlets.

The Process

Research the topic

The first step was immersion into groundbreaking industry research and trends to inspire content ideas likely to lead to a buzz-worthy infographic.  The media outreach process included extensive research of prominent outlets to identify what angles would work best for the target audience. The process advanced to researching, writing, design, and pitching the infographic for maximum exposure.

Focus on shareability

It’s important to ensure infographics will be useful to the target audience of each outlet so they’ll want to share the information.

Overseeing design

The client had an internal graphic designer they requested be guided through the process. For this specific infographic, working closely with the internal designer was crucial to ensure all aspects of the infographic conformed to the client’s expectations while delivering the intended visual messaging.

Securing placements

Custom email pitches were crafted specific to each media outlet/contact to get the client’s infographic seen as widely as possible by their target audience.

The Results

The infographic spoke directly to the client’s target audience providing valuable information. Although it was only pitched to 10 publications, the infographic was picked up on 11 outlets with a total reach of 1.85 million online readers. The infographic received an estimated 17,100 views and nearly 2,000 shares. It also generated 13 backlinks to the client’s website.
